It wasnt that long ago that black people got pretty minimal rights. I would argue that the progress made is not sad and is actually very exciting.
Perhaps these expectations are why theres so much frustration. It wasnt that long ago that many individuals were racist. The discussion has moved because theres been progress in just a couple generations. Now were talking systemic racism, and of course systemic racism was going to result from the decades of individualized racism.
When youre the group thats being oppressed its very frustrating. But you have to remember the context. Were attempting to change our culture. That takes generations to unfold.
Be motivated and excited to change. Dont be angry that changing cultures takes time. Stay focused and be excited for our future. We can get there.
