The body of the man, who was in his 50s, was found at his home on St Michael’s Road in Drumcondra last night.
The body was found following a call to gardaí that a number of men were attempting to break into a house at around 11pm.
When gardaí arrived at the scene there were no other people present, and the man’s body was subsequently found.
The body remains at the scene this morning, and the coroner and the state pathologist will visit the scene later.
Gardaí have appealed for anyone with information to contact them at Mountjoy Garda Station on 01 6668602, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or at any garda station.
