Are Manchester United set to swing the axe on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer?
It’s been a bad week for the Red Devils boss as last Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Arsenal – which extended United’s worst start to a Premier League season in seven years – was followed up by one of the worst defeats of Solskjaer’s Old Trafford tenure.
On Wednesday they were beaten by Istanbul Basaksehir in their Champions League group, conceding their first goal in woeful circumstances with the defending since branded ‘unforgivable’, ’embarrassing’ and disrespectful to school boys.
Demba Ba opened the scoring from this position with EVERY United outfield player ahead of him on the pitch
Since the end of the match, the pressure has mounted on Solskjaer with fans and pundits calling for ‘Ole Out’ and urging the appointment of a top-class manager such as the currently out-of-work Mauricio Pochettino or Max Allegri.
One United supporter, Dave, even called into talkSPORT and backed the return of Old Trafford legend Sir Alex Ferguson to the dugout with Solskjaer to be sacked as soon as possible!
So, will ‘#OleOut’ soon be trending on social media? If the bookmakers know anything, the answer to that question is a resounding ‘yes’.
The latest Premier League sack race odds from Ladbrokes have Solskjaer as favourite to be the next manager to lose his job – even ahead of relegation contenders Scott Parker and Slaven Bilic at Fulham and West Brom respectively.

Surprisingly, Frank Lampard is not overly safe in his position at Chelsea, Ladbrokes believe, even though the Blues appear to have turned a corner and look solid in defence and exciting in attack.
In fact, Chelsea beat Rennes 3-0 on Wednesday night to keep their fifth clean sheet in a row – with goalkeeper Edouard Mendy matching a record the Blues have not achieved since 2010!
Man City’s Pep Guardiola also appears to be at some risk as he is just 25/1 to leave the Etihad, behind the likes of Dean Smith at Aston Villa and Graham Potter at Brighton.
At the other end of the market Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp is very safe at 100/1 to leave, while Jose Mourinho and Mikel Arteta’s positions at Tottenham and Arsenal respectively continue to strengthen as the two north London rivals improve with every passing week.
