Jamie OHara has hit back at claims Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane is no longer world-class, and insists he is still worth £150million.
talkSPORT host and pundit Tony Cascarino made that claim on the Weekend Sports Breakfast after Kanes quiet outing in Englands 1-0 win over Iceland, which was then followed by another no-show in the 0-0 draw with Denmark.
Cascarino believes the hitman is no longer the brilliant player he once was, saying the Three Lions captain has been permanently changed by his persistent injury troubles.
Kane’s injury troubles have affected his game, believes Tony Cascarino
Harrys been an incredible goalscorer and hes quite clearly Englands best striker, but is he as good as what he was three years ago? No hes not, said the former Chelsea and Republic of Ireland striker.
Harrys had bad injuries. Hes had a number of ankle issues to deal with. Hes had injuries every year. The tendon in his hamstring was the same as Michael Owen had. Its a big problem.
Thats the reasoning behind Cascarinos belief that Kane is no longer in the world-class bracket he used to be in.
Tottenham’s Harry Kane not the striker he was, says Tony Cascarino
But OHara disagrees, insisting the Tottenham star is still in his prime and would be worth £150m in the current transfer market.
For me, Harry Kane is still a world-class striker, said the former Spurs midfielder on the talkSPORT Breakfast.
Hes only 27, hes in his prime.
Kane scored 24 goals in 34 games for Spurs last season
He had a bad injury last season; weve seen in the All or Nothing documentary how bad that hamstring injury was and it takes time to come back from that.
After he had the lockdown off, he came back sharp and he looked all right.
You talk about the England games where he looked fatigued, but those games were just a waste of time in my opinion.
I think hes still got so much to offer and for me hes still worth £150m.
