Wolves would represent a huge threat to Chelsea next season if they win the Europa League, die-hard Blues fan Jason Cundy believes.
Raul Jimenez’s early penalty clinched a spot in the last eight as the Wanderers beat Olympiacos 1-0 in their last-16 second-leg tie on Thursday, squeezing through 2-1 on aggregate.
Jimenez scored from the penalty spot for Wolves to fire them into the next round
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men now head to Duisburg in Germany for Tuesday’s one-off last-eight tie against Sevilla – the first time the club has reached a quarter final in Europe since 1972.
And Cundy, who made 41 league appearances for Chelsea from 1988-1992, believes Wolves could be a bigger threat to the Blues due to the financial benefits they receive if they win the competition.
I dont want Wolves winning the Europa League,” he told talkSPORT. “Its quite simple and its not difficult for me to explain this.
Wolves celebrate their early goal against Olympiakos
If Wolves were to win this competition, it puts them in a very different position as a a threat to my club Chelsea.
They would hold on to a lot of their players and hold on to their manager. Not only that, it puts them in a position where they can delve into their pockets.
Imagine what Wolves could look like next season if they win the Europa League and have Champions League football?
I dont want to see that Wolves.

Cundy also heaped praise on Wanderers captain Conor Coady and said he’d be a brilliant signing for Arsenal, who are on the hunt for defensive reinforcements.
We talk about the lack of good centre-halves there are around,” Cundy added.
Wolves have got two, three in there that could play for a club that has European football.
Arsenal are looking out for a centre-half. If Arsenal got Coady, are you telling me thats not a good signing?
If they got Champions League football theres no chance of that happening as they would demand a big fee.
