Premier League clubs have just 12 DAYS to snap up RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner for a bargain price of less than £50million.
The Germany international has been strongly linked with a move to England this summer, with Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United all understood to be interested in acquiring his services.
Werner has four goals in four games since the Bundesliga restart
The Reds are said to be his preferred destination, with Werner having praised the club and their manager Jurgen Klopp as the best in the world.
However, the Premier Leagues runaway leaders are reportedly hesitant to splash the cash during the current financial uncertainty.
Recent reports have claimed Chelsea are hoping to take advantage of that to bring the red-hot striker to Stamford Bridge this summer, while United have also been linked with an interest.
But interested clubs will have to act quickly if they want to sign a world-class goalscorer for a bargain price.
Werner, who has 31 goals and 12 assists in 40 games this season, signed a contract extension last summer which tied him down to Leipzig until 2023, but also featured a release clause of 55m (£49m) which runs out on Monday June 15.
And, as Bundesliga expert Kevin Hatchard told talkSPORT on Tuesday, once that date passes, the German club can name their price for their talisman.
Werner has scored 92 goals over his four seasons at RB Leipzig
Its going to have to happen soon if clubs are serious about him, because you are not going to get a lower price than 55m, he told Hawksbee and Jacobs.
This is an international striker who has a proven record in the Bundesliga.
This isnt a guy who has just been around for the last couple of seasons, hes been around since he was a teenager and hes improved massively under Julian Nagelsman.
I think hes much more creative players than he was before, hes very much an all-round performer now.
Liverpool have a long-held interest in him and I think Jurgen Klopp would love to sign him, and I have to say Im surprised they havent made a more decisive move.
I understand that clubs having massive financial concerns because of whats happened with COVID-19, I get that, but if you are going to engage in the transfer market, if you are going to plan to make those signings in the summer, this is a bargain for me.
The release clause expires on June 15, and once thats gone, Leipzig can name their price.
Danny Murphy hails ‘super player’ Timo Werner but questions where he would fit in Liverpool’s current team
It appears Leipzig have conceded defeat in trying to convince their star man to stay, with manager Nagelsmann recently admitting ‘there is nothing we can do’.
Werner is said to want to join a club where he can play regularly football and help them challenge for the Champions League title.
And its likely his price tag with rocket after June 15, especially after Paris Saint-Germain agreed to trigger their option to sign striker Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan for £51m.
Werner is three years younger than Icardi and has a much better scoring record over the last few seasons, so RB Leipzig are said to be using that deal as a benchmark in their valuation of their top scorer.
