Mystery boat near Pine River Bridge sparks police search

A mystery boat found stuck in mangroves sparked an urgent search on Monday including water police vessels, divers and helicopters in Queensland. The unattended blue dinghy was found stuck in the mud flats at the Pine River during a low tide about midday today, Queensland Police said in a statement.
It was found on the northern bank of the Pine River, halfway between the Deep Water Bend boat ramp and the Pine River Bridge at the Bruce Highway near Bald Hills in northern Brisbane.
“The vessel is a three metre aluminium open dingy painted dark blue with a white snake electric engine,” Queensland Police said.
After discovering the boat, Brisbane Water Police launched a marine search and rescue operation this afternoon with water police vessels, the Rescue 500 helicopter and divers from the police dive squad.

Police said they hadn’t received reports of missing fishermen or missing persons linked to the vessel, and have appealed to anyone who recognises the dinghy to immediately contact police.
