Donald Trump recently tweeted yet another silly meme. In the middle of a pandemic, and with the economy in freefall, shouldn’t he be working?

  • Donald Trump just tweeted a meme today.
  • Its an edited video from the film Independence Day.
  • Shouldnt he be working, instead?

Donald Trump loves Twitter.
Every day, it seems hes tweeting about something or other. Some days, hes attacking journalists who dare to print valid criticisms. Some days, hes sending the stock market into freefall. And still other days, hes just being plain foolish.
Today happens to be the latter of those days, as Trump tweeted a video of himself superimposed on Bill Pullmans body. The video, which was taken from the hit film Independence Day, positions Trump as a great leader uniting all Americans against a common foe.
As of this writing, the tweet has more than 77,000 retweets and 241,000 likes.
And thats pretty impressive.
But itd be even more impressive if Donald Trump would stop tweeting and just do his job.
Donald Trump Managed To Get Bill Pullmans Attention
Pullman, a fine enough actor who doesnt court publicity or problems, spoke up after Trumps tweet and made clear that nobody owns his voice but him.
For Pullman, its not about politics its unclear if Pullman supports, or is against, Donald Trump, and it doesnt even matter at this point. For Pullman, its about professionalism.
Trump may have come from the entertainment world albeit his efforts to break into Hollywood were mostly thwarted, and he contented himself with hosting The Apprentice and hawking fast food but he is not an entertainer.
He is not an actor.
At this point, hes not even a billionaire or a millionaire.
Donald Trump is the president of the United States, whether we like it or not. And he will be for the next 170 days or so.
Theres certainly no shortage of things he can do in those 170 days to salvage some semblance of dignity for both himself and the Oval Office.
Lets Make A List Of Things Trump Can Do Instead Of Tweeting
Lets summarize the mess the United States is in, as of this writing, so Donald Trump can decide what he wants to tackle first in the remaining days of his presidential term.
Source: Twitter
First off, the stock market is headed for another crash. As it stands, all of the gains from the past ten years have been completely wiped out, and theres nowhere left for the Dow to go but down.
Next, theres a housing crisis thats quickly reaching critical mass. Theres been a great exodus, already, from Silicon Valley. Neither the Fed nor the Trump administration has made any provisions to stave off the impending storm. And any further failure to do so will make 2008 look like a cakewalk.
Then theres the unemployment rate. As of this writing, nearly 15% of all Americans are out of work, the highest rate since the Great Depression. Yesterday, it was announced that another 3 million Americans filed for unemployment. That brings the total of unemployed Americans to a staggering 36.5 million.
The Health Crisis
And of course, lets not forget the current coronavirus pandemic. As of this writing, there have been more than 1.5 million people who have tested positive for COVID-19. And the current death toll in the United States is at a jaw-dropping 90,000 and that number is steadily climbing. Yet, instead of taking action, Donald Trump continues to claim that COVID-19 deaths are political, as though exemption from disease is dependent on your political affiliation.
No matter which side of the political aisle you sit on, we can all agree that these issues are paramount to the survival of this country. Donald Trump needs to get off Twitter and get to tackling these very serious issues.
